What is a scale? A scale is a systematic way of organizing notes and keys. Scales are like directional signs. They are the roads which leads to the understanding of all elements of music theory training. I encourage you to study the formation of scales. When you understand how they are formed and built, you will appreciate the existence of such study. Practice of scales must be your primary daily warm-up. This is how your fingers and hands get into the mode of playing your instrument. Scales are not only designed for piano. They are for all instruments that play notes or keys like the guitar, bass, saxophone, flute, recorder, clarinet......... A well trained musician must learn scales. Scales are your first order of neatness. |
